Budapest, day 4

Our last day in the wonderful Budapest... We wanted to take a tour in the Parliament building, but it was very crowded. We decided to go to the Ethnographic museum, which is across from the Parliament. We couldn't stay very long though, because we had to catch our flight round 15:00. When we arrived in the Netherlands we treated ourselves with Starbucks drinks. I can't wait till our next trip!

Budapest, day 3

On day three we visited Margitsziget (Margaret Island) and after a walk of about 5km we went to Buda. At 14:30 we had a free walking tour on the Buda side of Budapest. I liked it very much, although I must confess that I like Pest better... There is a saying about Budapest: half of the population lives in Buda, the other half wants to live in Buda. But I'd rather live in Pest!

In the evening we went to a vegan restaurant called Napfényes. It was delicious! We had Gulyás soup, a platter of snacks with rice and french fries, and sponge cake for dessert. I had a ginger lemonade; Ron had a strawberry shake. It was so good!

Afterwards we went back to the hostel, where they offered us Fröccs. It is wine with soda. I didn't like it that much, but I'm always in to try something new...!

Budapest, day 2

On our second day in the wonderful city Budapest, we enjoyed a walking tour through Pest. It was amazing - we got to taste Kürtőskalács, also known as chimney cake (yes, it looks like a chimney!). What amazed me the most was the Parliament building, built for the Millenium. It is currently the largest building in Hungary, and the tallest in Budapest. Afterwards we went to Lukács Thermal Bath, which was quite nice and relaxing.
During the evening we took a boat trip. It was lovely to see Buda and Pest from the water!

Budapest, day 1

My second - Rons first - srprs.me trip brought us to... Budapest! On our first day we went to Gellért Hill, a 235 m high hill overlooking the Donau. Gellért Hill was named after Saint Gerard, who was put in a barrel and thrown to death from the hill. I first jokingly said that Ron should propose to me here - the view was stunning - but after knowing the origin of the name of this hill, I'd rather not!
Afterwards we went to our hostel, but not before we had some jégkrém (ice cream).
Then we made our own gulyás, which was very good (with lots of paprika)!
